Directed by late theatre personality Abdullah Al Mamun, the production had its debut in 1976 and played an important role in the neo-theatre movement of Bangladesh. The play was recently redirected and designed by Sudip Chakroborthy. Finally, ‘Meraj Fakir-er Maa’ one of the most popular plays of the host troupe, written & directed by Abdullah Al-Mamun, will be staged at 7.30 pm. Abdullah Al Mamun’s play ‘Meraj Fokirer Ma’ poses a few very important question of life: What is more important--relationship or religion? Should a son leave his mother if his views regarding religion differ from that of hers? In fact, through this satirical play, the playwright tries to bring out the human values and depict certain characters, who oppress people in the name of religion.
To announce this prolific event ‘Theatre’ arranged a Press Conference yesterday at the VIP Lounge, Dhaka Press Club. Director (Organizational) Theatre Ramendu Majumdar, BBS Cables Ltd Managing Director Engr Abu Noman Hawlader and Expressions Ltd Director Syed Apon Ahsan were present at the Press Conference.
In the press conference speakers expressed their feelings on this very event mentioning, this is not the first time Theatre is arranging such day long performances. Today evil power is trying to shake our nation’s root. They are distracting country’s next generation by deforming our history and culture in different ways. To take control of this situation we need to increase cultural activities and active participation in it. This is the insight behind the event. Theatre has chosen three of their most popular plays that speak up about our country, its history and culture depicting the Liberation War, Non-communalism and call for protecting our Nature.
