Bangladesh and India yesterday agreed to jointly produce a film on the life and works of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, reports BSS. "We have agreed to jointly produce a film on the life and works of Bangabandhu which will be released on his birth centenary year in 2020," Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said while delivering his statement after the official talks with his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina at the Hyderabad House here this afternoon. Paying tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Modi said he was a “dear friend of India and a towering leader”.
“As a mark of our respect and deep admiration for the father of Bangladesh, a prominent road (Park Street) in our capital city has been named after him,” he said. The Indian prime minister said Bangabandhu’s life, struggle and contribution to the creation of Bangladesh will continue to inspire future generations.
“To mark the Golden Jubilee Year of Bangladesh’s independence in 2021, we have agreed to jointly produce a documentary film on the Liberation War of Bangladesh,” he said. Modi said along with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina he was also honoured to release the Hindi translation of Bangbandhu’s ‘Unfinished Memoirs’.
Praising Sheikh Hasina for successfully carried forward the vision and legacy of Bangabandhu, he said:
