AL man among seven suspected killers arrested

Bogra police arrested seven people, including an Awami League leader, from Gabtoli area yesterday as suspects in Mozam Pramanik murder case.
Mozam Pramanik, 48, of village Tolllatolla in Gabtoli upazila was stabbed to death by unidentified criminals on July 13 when he was returning home with some money from Berebari in Dhunut, family sources said.   The arrestees are Jakaria, 21, Abul Kaium allies Rony, 21, Abdul Kafi, 22,
Al Amin, 21, Abdur Rahim, 20, Ibraim, 22, and Rasedul Islam allies Biplob, 24. Biplob is general secretary of Nosipur union Awami League.
 Acting on a tip-off, a team of Gabtoli police, led by Additional Superintendent of Police of Bogra Md Arifur Rahman Mondal, arrested the seven suspected killers from different places in Bogra in a drive that last 24 hours.     
 Locals alleged that Mozam Pramanik was known as a
leader of gamblers and a money lender in Gabtoli and adjacent area. He used to pay money to the local ruling party leaders as extortion.  But they were angry as Moazzem stopped paying them money for the last few days. Family members suspected that Mozam might have been killed for the reason.  But the police have not accepted the allegation.
