Mash, Mushfiq happy with team progress

Bangladesh have no Twenty20 games in their hectic international schedule before the next home series against Pakistan. The series is slated to take place in between July and August.
Bangladesh ODI skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza said after landing home from Sri Lanka that they should shift their focus only on one-day as their next assignments will be held on this formats.
“If you look at the team, then you will get to see, the team has been performing well. Last eight T20 matches we lost but if you look at the progress, I will then say, our progress is better more than the last two years,” said Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, who surprisingly announced his retirement from shortest format before the outset of T20 series against Sri Lanka in Colombo.
“At the same time if you say about one-day it would be better feeling if we could win the one day series 2-0. But the mistakes we have done here we will try to play the tri-nation series in Ireland and Champions Trophy in England amending those errors. We have to play at different conditions there. So, we will get down with a planned way and try to execute those,” he added.
Asked if there is any displeasure in T20 throughout his decade-long career, the 50-over skipper said ‘no’ in his answer but feel proud to play for Bangladesh so many years.
“Of course I have no discontent in T20. I and my family still feel proud that I could have played for Bangladesh for the last 10 years. I also feel proud of it,” he told in response to a query.
On the other hand, Bangladesh Test skipper Mushfiqur Rahim said that the performance in away condition one after another testified their progress in overall cricket.
“This year our maximum series are away series. We had initial target is to play consistently better. In India, we played better cricket throughout the four days. But the result has not come in our favour. I think, we could not play better cricket in our first Test in Sri Lanka. But our team has come back in the second that was really marvelous,” Mushfiqur Rahim said.
“I’ve no such idea that the team could do perform under pressure. We rode on the seniors’ performance have earned a great achievement. It actually testified the progress of the Bangladesh cricket. And it was heavily needed for us because it was our 100th Test. Along with that, it was a hint for the world cricket that we, Bangladesh, could play better cricket in away condition. It was not so easy for us because it was difficult to beat the team like Sri Lanka at their home turf,” Rahim told.
“The teams like Australia, who could win at any condition. But recently we all see that Sri Lanka against them won the first Test. In that sense, it was a biggest achievement for us. To be honest, I’ll personally say that we had many things what we gained from there. We have to do more better result ahead. We have to try to grab the opportunity and capitalize it. It’ll be a biggest learning point for us,” he added.
