No agreement against country's interest: Nasim
SIRAJGANJ: Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim on Thursday said the Awami League will not sign any agreements, which will go against country's interest, reports BSS.
"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would not compromise with country's interest while signing any agreement with any country," he told journalists after visiting Sirajganj hospital. About upcoming India visit of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Nasim said the Awami League government has always resolved different issues between India and Bangladesh maintaining peaceful relations.
During his visit at the hospital, Nasim urged healthcare professionals to perform their duties with utmost sincerity and honesty for improving healthcare systems in the country.
Minor girl hurt in bomb blast
Chapainawabganj: A minor girl suffered serious injuries as a crude bomb she was playing with unknowingly went off at Ganka village in Chapainawabganj municipality on Thursday, reports UNB.
Locals said Alo, 8, daughter of Ali Hossain, found a toy-like object near her house around 9 am and started playing with it. At one stage, the crude bomb went off with a big bang, leaving her critically injured. She was taken to Sadar hospital and then shifted to Rajshhai Medical College Hospital. Waresh Ali Mia, assistant superintendent of police (Sadar Circle), visited the victim at the hospital.
Cocktails, explosives recovered; one arrested in C’nawabganj

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-5 recovered eight cocktails, eight machetes and a bag of explosives from under a depot of paddy stalks in a mango orchard at Ganka village under Chapainawabganj Pourasabha on Thursday afternoon.
In this connection, the RAB also arrested one suspect identified as Tareq, 21, son of Abdul Barek of Alinagar slum area of the town.
A team of bomb disposal unit of the RAB from Rajshahi exploded the bag of powerful explosives in a ditch in the same orchard at 10.45am today.
Commanding Officer of RAB-5 Lieutenant Colonel Mahbub Alam, in a briefing, said after detecting the cocktails and explosives a team of the force cordoned off the whole area last night and recovered the cocktails, machetes and explosives.
As the explosives were wrapped in a sewed a bag, the bomb disposal unit decided to explode it in presence of the media workers, he added.
He further added that a gang of terrorists might have stored the explosives to conduct destructive activities.
Meanwhile, a minor girl identified as Alo Khatun, 6, daughter of Ali Hossain of the same village, was injured in a cocktail blast on Thursday morning. The girl was playing with the device left in an abandoned condition.
After the incident, the RAB conducted a raid in the area.
