Speakers at a function here on Monday underscored the need for ensuring a proper data collection of households to develop a national database in this regard in the country, reports BSS.
They put emphasis on the issue while addressing a briefing meeting of district census standing committee organized by the district administration and the district statistics office in the conference room of District Collectorate Building here.Deputy Commissioner (DC) M. Abdus Samad presided over the function. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Mohammad Miznaur Rahman, deputy director (DD) of Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) Tahidul Islam, Assistant Police Super M. Asaduzzaman, and District Information Officer Sabiha Akter Lucky addressed the meeting, among others.
Earlier, DD of BBS Iftekhairul Karim made a power point presentation on overall activities of the households’ data collection that would continue in the district till April 23, 2017. In the presentation, DD Iftekhairul Karim said the data collection of the households is being done under the project of National Households Database (NHD) of BBS with the financial support of the government of Bangladesh and the World Bank.
The DC said the NHD project is expected to fulfill one of the main elements of the poverty reduction strategy of the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina side by side with strengthening the coordination, targeting and coverage of social protection programmes.The DC also urged the assigned officials and the employees to perform the data collection of the households in the district during the stipulated time in a proper way and to make the activity a grand success.
