Charge framing  deferred

The Speedy Trial Tribunal, Sylhet yesterday again deferred until August 3 the charge framing of the former Finance Minister SAMS Kibria murder case, reports UNB.
Sylhet Speedy Trial Tribunal Judge Makbul Hossain passed the order during yesterday’s hearing as Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury was not present at the court for his sickness.
Thirteen accused, including former state minister for home Lutfozzaman Babar were present at the court.
Ariful’s lawyer Mohammad Lala appealed for time petition at the court as Ariful could not be present for his sickness.
Earlier the tribunal fixed July 23 for charge framing of the murder case.
The Kibria murder case had been transferred to the Speedy Trial Tribunal from Habiganj Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court on June 11 for its quick disposal.
Five people, including Kibria, were killed and 70 others injured in a grenade attack on a public
rally of local Awami
League at Baidder Bazar in Sadar upazila on January 27, 2005.
