About six houses, including some under-construction structures, built illegally on the bank of the Korotoa River in Bogra town, were evicted and pulled down yesterday following a High Court order.
“We have demolished the dwelling houses during an eviction drive that started from 11:30pm,” said Habibul Hasan Rumi, an executive magistrate in Bogra.
The drive will continue until all are evicted, he added.
A team comprising members of Armed Battalion Police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) demolished the illegal structures.
The move came after the Bangladesh Environment Lawyer Association (BELA) secured an eviction order from the High Court on demolition of all illegal structures immediately on its writ petition filed earlier.
