Call for social movement to resist child marriage

A day-long meeting organized by district administration for social movement to resist child marriage and ensure marriage ceremony lawfully was held at the conference room of Deputy Commissioner on Monday, reports BSS.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shubash Chandra Biswas presided over the meeting with the presence of government and non government officials.
A total of 81 government and non-government officials assured the Deputy Commissioner and singed on a document that they will build up strong resistance to tackle the child marriage and the marriage ceremony lawfully in the district.Among others Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue, Education & ICT) Mahbub Hasan Shahin, President of District Chamber of Commerce Abdullah-al-Mamon, President of Narsingdi Press Club Morshed Shahariar and General Secretary Shofiqul Mohammad Manik spoke.
Terming the child marriage as a social menace and socioeconomic problem, speakers stressed for ensuring marriage ceremony lawfully, increasing of public awareness and building up strong resistance against child marriage as well as marriage registration.They said marriage registration must be hundred percent as marriage registration can prevent the child marriage.
They said the government has been working relentlessly to tackle the course early marriage and has adopted multifarious steps to stop hundred percent child marriage.
