ICT finalises report against Bengali captain of Pak army

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) finalised its investigation report against war crimes accused retired Pakistani army captain Mohammad Shahidullah, reports UNB. Mohammad Abdul Hannan Khan, chief coordinator of the agency, disclosed this while addressing a press briefing at its office in the city’s Dhanmondi area yesterday morning. Shahidullah is now in jail, said Abdul Hannan Khan. The ICT, during its investigation that continued from October 11, 2015 to March 20, 2017, could primarily prove three counts of charges against Shahidullah. He said Shahidullah had been posted in Pakistan before the War of Liberation in 1971. When the war began he was on leave in East Pakistan.
He joined the Pakistani occupation forces here instead of returning to Pakistan, Hannan Khan added. Khan said Shahidullah was the commander of the Pakistani occupation forces camp set up at Daudkandi High School during the Liberation War. He did not join the Bangladesh Army after the independence. Earlier on August 2 last year, a team of the ICT investigation agency arrested Shahidullah from Amirabad village in Daudkandi upazila after the tribunal issued a warrant for his arrest and sent him to jail.
