Group art show ‘Amity’ begins at Gallery Twenty One

In memory of renowned artist and national award-winning filmmaker Khalid Mahmood Mithu, a two-week group art exhibition titled ‘Amity’ by nine artists is now underway at Gallery Twenty One in the capital’s Dhanmondi area. 

Director General of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Md Shamsul Haque, eminent artist Samarjit Roy Chowdhury and Grameen Telecom Trust Managing Director Parveen Mahmud jointly inaugurated the exhibition on Sunday on the gallery premises.  
A total of 34 artworks by nine artists are being showcased at the exhibition. The participating artists are—Professor Farida Zaman, Khalid Mahmood Mithu, Kanak Chanpa Chakma, Shameem Subrana, Afroza Jamil Konka, Samina Nafis, Salma Zakia Bristy, Farzana Ripa, Kamruzzaman Shadhin. 
The exhibition was going to be the first collaboration between Bangladeshi and Thai artists organized by Embassy of Bangladesh, Bangkok and Arts of Living. Khalid Mahmood Mithu named the exhibition very appropriate as ‘Amity’.
All arrangements were complete to launch ‘Amity’ as scheduled on March 22 in 2016 in Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, but Khalid Mahmood could not attend the exhibition. He died on March 7, 2016. 
The exhibition remains open to all every day from 12pm to 8pm, until April 1.
