PTA, BSA hold daylong event today

To observe the ‘World Children and Youth Theatre Day’, Peoples Theatre Association (PTA)--the local representative of ASSITEJ, a global network of theatre for children and young people--in association with Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), has organised a day-long programme today at the National Art Plaza of BSA in the capital.
With the theme ‘Shishu Hotyar Bikkhobe Aj Kapuk Basundhara’, the event will begin with the rendition of the national anthem. The programmes of ‘Youth Theatre Day’ will be inaugurated by the founder of PTA  and Director General of BSA Liaquat Ali Lucky. About 1000 children and young theatre activists of PTA will take part in a cultural programme that will include discussion, dance, music, recitation, and drama.
Besides, a programme to protest violence against children and a commemorative programme in memory of abuse children will be held by the children and young artistes.
Established in 1965, ASSITEJ links thousands of theatre organisations and individuals through national centres in more than 70 countries.
ASSITEJ declared March 20 as the ‘World Children and Youth Theatre Day’ in 2001, and a number of 250 member organisations of PTA observing the day since 2001.
To note, People’s Theatre Association (PTA) started a revolutionary movement in January 1990 and it has so far participated in 85 international festivals.
