The Election Commission (EC) has ordered the withdrawal of the officer-in-charge of Sadar Dakkhin Police Station, Nazrul Islam, ahead of the polls to Comilla City Corporation, reports UNB from Comilla. Rakib Uddin Mondal, returning officer of the city election billed for March 30, said an order reached the Comilla regional election office yesterday afternoon through fax.
The Election Commission ordered the withdrawal of the OC following BNP candidate Manirul Haq Sakku’s allegation against him of harassing his supporters.
On Saturday, Sakku alleged that Kuddus, a BNP activist and Sakku’s follower of Dhanaitori area, was arrested by police although he secured bail from the court.
He made the allegation while speaking at views-exchange meeting on electoral code of conduct and the law and order at Comilla Town Hall auditorium.
