15 bombs seized at Ctg ‘militant 
hideout’

Police recovered 15 bombs and some explosive substances from a ‘militant hideout’ at Premtala in Sitakunda upazila of Chittagong yesterday noon, reports UNB. Superintendent of police of Chittagong Nure Alam Minar said a bomb disposal team of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) and Chittagong district police jointly recovered the bombs, weighing 3kg each, and five grams of explosive substances from a room after searching ‘Chhayanir Bhaban’ at Premtala at noon. Bodies of five militants, including a couple, their six-year-old boy and two men, were recovered from two rooms on the ground floor of ‘Chhayanir Bhaban’ on Thursday after a special raid by joint forces but a room of the house could not be searched on the day, the SP said.
The bomb disposal team recovered the bombs from that room yesterday noon, he said. Meanwhile, law enforcers identified the slain couple as Jobaida Khatun, 26, younger sister of militant Jasim arrested from another militant hideout, and her husband Kamal Uddin, 35, but the identities of two other militants are yet to be confirmed, he said.
On Thursday, five suspected militants were killed during a special raid by joint forces on a militant hideout at Premtala in Sitakunda upazila of, ending an overnight standoff. Earlier, the law enforcers arrested an alleged militant couple—Jasim and his wife Arjina - along with their two-month-old baby from another den in the same upazila and recovered a number of grenades, bombs and firearms from there. Meanwhile, the militant couple was put on a 12-day remand in two cases.
