A day-long discussion meeting on NCD was held at the Kusumpur village of Sirajdikhan upazilla under the Munshigonj district on March 3, 2017. The meeting was sponsored by the Touching Souls International Palliative Care Centre, Kusumpur in association with World Peace Human Rights, HEAL and MTIS-Bangladesh. Noted specialists and physicians talked on various non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, cancer, heart disease, hypertension, alternative medicine and palliative care medicine. Dr. Maswoodur Rahman Prince, senior physician, health activist and chairman of WPHR acted as moderator and briefly oriented the audience about NCD’s.
The 300 strong audience and participants were briefed by the speakers on causes spread management and prevention of dread diseases emphasizing on change of lifestyle, eating habit, exercise and discipline in every walk of life for prevention and containment of NCDs. Palliative care experts talked on the importance of palliative care and to help terminally ill patients to die
with dignity – that is giving them death with dignity. The seminar was presided over by Prof Shahabuddin K. Chaudhury while Dr. Mizanur Rahman Shelley attended the same as chief guest. Syed Mahbub Mukut was in-charge of coordination and supervision. Prof. Hafizuddin Ahmed talked on cancer, Dr. Dulal Hossain talked on diabetes. Dr. Maswoodur Rahman Prince, Dr. Mustafa Anwar, Dr. Nuruzzaman Noor talked on diabetes, heart disease, hypertension etc and also talked on healthful living.
Architect and noted filmmaker (Surjadighal Bari famed) Moshiuddin Saker and his health activist wife Zebun Nesa talked elaborately on healthful living – its arts and science. Health activists and Hakims from Hamdard Laboratories (Waqf) Bangladesh talked on alternative medicine.
The president rounded up the session with his appreciation for the speakers. The chief guest Dr. Shelley closed the meet with his thankful remarks for the organizers.
