Mentioning that human traffickers are enemies of the country, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan yesterday urged all to come forward to prevent the trafficking, reports UNB. "We can't accept that a woman will be tortured after going abroad. All will have to work together to stop the trafficking," he said.
The minister came up the remarks while addressing a programme at a city hotel, jointly organized by Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (BAIRA) and Rapid Action Battalion (Rab).
Praising anti-human trafficking drives of the Rab, Asaduzzaman said the elite force has been working with sincerity to check the human trafficking.
Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment minister Nurul Islam BSc, who was present as the chief guest in the programme, said job seekers must be skilled before going abroad from Bangladesh.
He said the government has already set up some 40 new technical training centres in the country to build skill manpower, adding that it has also taken various steps for the welfare of expatriates.
Presided over by BAIRA president Benjir Ahmed, the function was addressed, among others, by Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment secretary Shamsun Nahar, RAB Director General (DG) Benazir Ahmed and Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training (BMET) DG Selim Reza.
