Mentioning that the next general election will be held under the current government, Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi Mia yesterday said it does not matter who joins the polls and who does not, reports UNB.
He made the remarks while speaking at a programme marking the golden jubilee of Rangamati Government Girl's High School in Rangamati town.
The Deputy Speaker said the government has been able to root out militancy from the country as it has taken a 'zero tolerance' policy to annihilate militants.
Fazle Rabbi said the government has already implemented many conditions of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Peace Accord signed in 1997.
Presided over by Rangamati deputy commissioner Mohammad Manjarul Mannan, the programme was attended, among others, by local MP Usaton Talukdar, State Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Dipankar Talukdar and Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board (CHTDB) vice chairman Tarun Kanta Ghosh.
