Beximco Group Vice Chairman Salman F Rahman has expressed his surprise seeing his name among global billionaires. China-based the Hurun Report published a list, the Hurun Global Rich List 2017, on March 7 in which Salman F Rahman has been included along with 2,256 other billionaires. This is the sixth year that the Hurun Report released a ranking of the billionaires in the world, also known as the ‘Nine-Zero Club’. Rahman has been ranked 1685th in this year’s list, also the first Bangladeshi to make it to such a listing, according to the Hurun Report. "I have no idea how the organisation took account of the (my) wealth," Rahman said in a statement issued yesterday. “Several news reports have put my wealth to be $1.3b in reference to the list released by the Hurun Report. The net asset of the Beximco Group may be close to the amount as per the company’s latest annual report. However, this is not the amount of my personal wealth," said the Beximco Group vice-chairman, also the private sector development adviser to Awami League chief and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
