Youth found dead in Manikganj

The body of a youth was recovered from Bongshi River at Sirajpur hat area in Singair upazila of Manikganj district yesterday. The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately. Officer-in-charge of Singair police station Khadaker Imama Hossain said local people saw the body floating on the river in the morning and informed police. Police rushed to the spot and recovered the body.
Police stources said after killing the youth criminals may dump the body in the river. The dead body bore injury marks on neck. Police could not find out the reason behind the killing, immediately. However, previous enmity might be the reason, the OC suspected. Police recovered the body and sent it to Manikganj Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination yesterday. A case was lodged with Singair police station in this connection.
Two cousins drown in Narail

Two cousins drowned in a pond at Rahdanagar village in Lohagara upazila of Narail district yesterday.
Sources said Arafat, 4, son of Razab Ali and Faria, 5, daughter of Mirazul went out of home in the morning for playing yesterday. As they did not come back home in time, the family members started searching them. At last they found their bodies floating in a pond not far from their home at 11 am.
They were rushed to Lohagara upazila health complex and the on duty doctor declared them dead. Officer-in-charge of Lohagara police station Jahangir Alam said two cases of unnatural death were filed in this connection.
10 business establishments gutted in Bagerhat fire
Bagerhat: Ten business establishments were gutted in a fire at Amragacchia Bazar in Shoronkhola upazila on Wednesday, reports UNB.
Fire service sources said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at a furniture shop around 2 pm and it soon engulfed the adjoining nine other establishments.
The affected owners claimed that the estimated losses caused by the fire is about Tk 30 lakh.
