DINAJPUR: Police, in special drives from Wednesday night to yesterday morning, arrested 43 persons including eight drug traders and recovered Phensidyl from 10 upazilas of the district, reports BSS. Sources with the district police said they were picked up from different areas of the district.
Police said, during the drives, Dinajpur Sadar police arrested 12 persons, Phulbari police four, Khansama two, Birganj four, Kaharole three, Parbatipur two, Ghoraghat two, Chirirbandar three, Hakimpur police arrested eight drug traders with 293 bottles of Phensidyl and Birampur police arrested three accused.
Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against the arrested persons, the sources added.
The arrested people were sent to jail this noon. Meanwhile in Manikganj, highway police yesterday arrested a man along with 21 kgs of ganja from a passenger bus of Hanif Paribahan in Mohadebpur area on Dhaka-Aricha Highway in the district. The arrested was identified as Md. Firoj Munnu, 45.
