Bus helper shot dead by fellow workers

Shahinur Rahman, a bus driver’s assistant who died after getting shot during Wednesday’s clash between transport workers and law enforcers, was shot by fellow transport workers, says the case statement filed by police over the death. “The man was killed by bullets fired by other transport workers and not the members of law enforcing agencies,” Farukul Alam, OC (investigation) of Darussalam Police Station, told reporters yesterday quoting the case statement.
Shahinur Rahman, a bus driver’s assistant, got shot during the clash on Wednesday. Transport workers blocked the road at Gabtoli bus terminal in the capital on Wednesday and also clashed with members of law enforcing agencies during a countrywide transport strike.
After getting hit by bullet, Shahinur was taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he succumbed the same day. Later, Darussalam Police  Sub-Inspector Elis Mahmud filed a murder case accusing 700-800 unnamed persons on the same day. No arrests have been made over the murder yet, said police.
