The round two of the 2017 Men Hockey World League will kickstart at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium (MBNHS) in Paltan today with the participation of eight teams. A total of eight teams from three different continents including Asia, Africa and Oceania, splitting into two pools- Pool A and Pool B, will take part in the nine-day-long league. Three days of March 6, 8 and 10 have been kept as rest day. Each day four matches will be played at the same venue.
Bangladesh have been pitted in the Pool-A with Malaysia, Oman and Fiji, while Pool-B is comprised of China, Ghana, Egypt and Sri Lanka.
The curtain of the World League will raise with the Pool B match between China and Ghana at the MBNHS at 9:15am today. Bangladesh will face-off Malaysia in the day’s last Pool-A match at the same venue at 4:00pm. In another Pool-B match, Egypt will lock horns with its Asian rival Sri Lanka at 11:30am, while Oman will take on Fiji in the Pool-A match at the same venue at 1:45pm.
Bangladesh will compete against Fiji and Oman in the second and third match on March 5 and 7 respectively. Only the finalists of the meet will progress to the third round of the Hockey World League to be held in England.
