A Bangladeshi software and apps innovator company, which began its journey at a car garage in Dhaka’s Khilgaon, has transformed into a Singapore-based multinational, and now it has set a target to get enlisted on Nasdaq Stock Market, the second-largest exchange in the world, by earning a billion-dollar revenue by 2020. The company, REVE, provides services to mobile operators in 11 countries including Airtel, India and IDT of US and currently earns about $12 million yearly revenue. REVE is taking part in the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 in Barcelona, Spain, that began on Monday, to attract telco leaders to its innovative products and service,
Talking to The Independent, REVE Chairman M Rezaul Hassan said, “We began our uncertain journey, fuelled only by our dreams, at my father’s car garage in Khilgaon area of Dhaka in 2003.  But reaching this far, now our target is to get enlisted with the Nasdaq. This will be tough, but not impossible if we can transform ours into a billion-dollar company.”
“To cater to the international market, now we are based in Singapore, and the process in on for opening up offices around the world including in Russia,” added the chairman.
Raihan Hossain, head of global sales of REVE, said, “From the very beginning REVE had the target to become an innovator, and not an outsourcing company like most others. This actually helped us to click in the international market.”
REVE is providing a form of secure mobile communication tool for the telecom operators that is similar to Viber and Messenger. The services are being used by a number of operators including US giant IDT and Indian giant Airtel.   The country’s biggest mobile phone service provider Grameenphone is also using REVE’s live chat software for its customer services.
“Any company can have an independent mobile communication solution like Viber and Whatsapp for their customers or for internal use and our solution is one of the best in the world, currently ranked at number three,” said Raihan.
Hinting at the future business prospects of REVE, its chairman Rezaul said, “We have innovated an anti-virus software that has been accepted by Microsoft. The product may become available in the next three months and create a huge reputation for our company.”
REVE is now trying to innovate in cyber security as the market is untapped and has a huge potential, he said.
Artificial intelligent services is one of the many agendas in this year’s Mobile world Congress and pointing to that, the REVE chairman said that his company is currently providing artificial intelligence services and solutions to the operators that had been planned from a few years back. For example, Grameenphone is offering certain live chat services, which is through an innovative product of REVE utilizing a form of artificial intelligence, he said.
Discussing data security, REVE head of global sales said, when sending documents through email or other apps like Viber, it is not possible to ensure that the information is not getting leaked, and REVE is working on providing a solution there.
“Our target is to securely deliver the documents from the senders. Also, every office uses some form of letter head that can be easily copied by others. We plan to innovate a type of solution for documents that no one can duplicate,” he added.
When asked to shed some light on his plan to become a billion dollar company in just three years, REVE Chairman Rezaul said, “We know very well it is not an easy target. But you see, if any of our solution or innovation clicks in the international market, that can bring billions of dollars. As a tech solution company, we are eyeing such opportunities, but cannot disclose any details right now. Also to take into note, if you don’t have any big dreams, you can never create anything big. So, we have set the goal big and now walking on the path to achieve that.”
In 2003, some students of computer science and IBA disciplines of Dhaka and Shajalal University joined hands to open up a solution company with a focus on innovation.
In the first year, the company created a billing system software for internet service providers-ISPs. Encouraged by its success, the innovators then created a platform solution for ADCL services of BTCL. The company also forged relations with companies in UK and Russia to get to the international market. In 2008, the company opened a stall at Communicate Asia and showed their innovations to the International Market, causing a stir. In 2014, the Company opened its office in Singapore and currently the company has 650 employees across the world. Another Bangladeshi Company Data soft also has a stall at this year’s MWC in Barcelona.
