Aparna-starrer Liberation War film ‘Bhuban Majhi’ releases March 3

National award winning actress Aparna Ghosh is spending a busy time campaigning for her film ‘Bhuban Majhi’, which is based on the Bangladesh War of Liberation. Directed by independent filmmaker Fakhrul Arefeen Khan, the film is all set to be released across the country on March 3. For campaigning, Aparna Ghosh visited her hometown Chittagong. Campaigning together with actor Maznun Mizan and director Fakhrul Arefeen Khan, Aparna visited the Fine Arts Institute, Theatre Institute and universities there.
Starring Bangladesh’s Aparna Ghosh and Indian actor Parambrata Chatterjee in the lead roles, the story of the film revolves around a spiritual man living in Kushtia, named Baul Nohor Majhi. A journalist travels to Kushtia for making a documentary on Bauls (mystics) and discovers a different truth. While being a Baul, Nohor Majhi was also a freedom fighter who fought heroically for the country in the Liberation War of 1971, after getting inspired by a young girl named Farida. In the film, Parambrata plays the role of Baul Nohor Majhi while Aparna acts as Farida.
The other notable casts of the film include Mamunur Rashid, Sushuma Sarker, Nowshaba, Maznun Mizan, and singer Waqeel.
The film, based on the life of a true freedom fighter, depicts a number of historical incidents like the horror night’s scenes of March 25, the East Pakistan Rifles (EPR) rebellion in 1971 and many more.
When asked why one should watch the film, Aparna said, “My father, grandfather had witnesses the War of Liberation. But I, myself, or my fellow mates never had that chance and we can only learn about the glorious war of our history by watching movies or listening to the stories. The film ‘Bhuban Majhi’ has been made based on the real life incidents of a freedom fighter and depicts a number of historical incidents, so one can witness and learn about the incidents of our Liberation War very closely from this film.”
“In the film, I have tried my level best to depict my role properly. I am hopeful about the success of the film”, she added.
After completing the campaign in Chittagong, Aparna will take part in the campaigning in the capital.
Aparna Ghosh put up a brilliant performance in the film ‘Mrittika Maya’ in 2013, winning the National Film Award for actress in best supporting role. Aprna-starred film ‘To Be Continued’ directed by Iftekhar Ahmed Fahim is also awaiting release.
