Sumaiya Shimu returns to acting

A glamorous face on the small screen, Sumaiya Shimu returned to acting after a long break. Shimu took a break after she lost her father on August 3 last year. But she is now back to work with two tele-dramas -- One is Iftekhar Ifti’s ‘Rupali Sutoy Buna Bhalobasar Ghor’ and another is Sohag Kazi’s ‘Expiry Date’. In both the dramas, Shimu has been cast against audience-admired actor Mir Sabbir.
About her return to acting, Shimu said, “In fact, I had lost my attention in acting when my father was ill. After his demise, everyone was upset and the overall situation in my family was not so good. For this reason, I could not concentrate on work. Now, the situation is back to normal and I have returned to acting just as before.”
“The stories of the two tele-dramas I have worked with Mir Sabbir are both very interesting. I am hopeful about the success of these two dramas”, she added.
Meanwhile, Sumaiya Shimu is going to face the viva for her PhD degree on the subject ‘Shilpa O Artha Samajik Bastobotar Prekhyapote tele-play te Obhinoye Narir Bhumika’ (The role of women in acting in tele-plays in the context of the entertainment industry and socio-economic realities)
Drama serial ‘Shunyata’, starring Sumaiya Shimu and Afran Nisho, is currently being broadcast on Maasranga Television at 08.15pm every Tuesday and Wednesday.
