DINAJPUR: Police, in special drives from Friday night to yesterday morning, arrested 60 people including 17 drug traders and recovered illegal drugs -- phensidyl, locally made liquor and yaba tablets from 10 upazilas of the district, reports BSS. Police said they were picked up from different areas of the district.
  Police said, during the drives, Dinajpur Sadar police arrested 23 persons including 17 drug traders with 138 pieces of yaba tablets, 50 bottles of phensidyl and 1200 liters of locally made liquor, Birganj police arrested five, Kaharole police arrested two, six were arrested by Parbatipur police, Khansama police four, Chirirbandar five, Ghoraghat three, Phulbari seven and Hakimpur police arrested five accused.
Hakimpur police recovered 200 bottles of Phensidyl from the upazila during the period.
Meanwhile, members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive recovered 850 bottles of Phensidyl from Birampur upazila.
Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against the arrested persons, the sources added.
The arrested people were sent to jail yesterday morning.
