Youth gets life term for murder

A court in Jhenidah sentenced a youth to life term imprisonment on Wednesday for killing an eight-year-old schoolboy in 2012. The court also fined the youth Tk 10 thousand, in default, the accused will have to suffer one more year in the prison, said the court sources of additional sessions judge Sana Mohammad Mahruf Hossain. The case in brief was Shaqil Ahmed was an employee of a shop owned by one Noor Hossain at Kaliganj Thanapara in Jhenidah. He was also engaged in taking Noor Hossain’s son Arafat to school for a regular basis.
On October 7 in 2012, Shaqil along with Arafat started for school and did not come back till noon. As Shaqil was absconding, Noor Hossain filed a general diary with Kaliganj police station in this connection. Later, Shaqil was arrested from Kaliganj main bus stoppage on the same day. When Shaqil was interrogated, he admitted that he killed the boy and said he did this as his father misbehaves with him. Police recovered Arafat’s body from a sugarcane field at Helai village. The court sources said the father filed a case against Shaqil as the lone accused. After investigation police submitted charge sheet against him.
