The fourth solo painting exhibition titled ‘Poetry of Darkness’ by artist Rashedul Huda will be inaugurated tomorrow at 5:30pm at Alliance Française de Dhaka (AFD) in the capital’s Dhanmondi area.
Eminent artist Monirul Islam will be present as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony, while eminent artist Bonizul Haque, Dr A M Shamim, founder and chairman, Labaid foundation and architect and art critic Rabiul Hussain will be present during the opening ceremony as the special guests. Bruno Plasse, director of Alliance Française de Dhaka will welcome the guests and will also preside over the opening ceremony.
Overwhelmed by the beauty within the mystifying dance of light, shadow and darkness, artist Rashedul Huda searches for the colour of life. To him, this oxymoronic reality is woven in the manner dreams are woven. The darkness of evening creates layers of images, and life too seems to look for a meaning there as it goes on. Like a feather shed by a bird that has flown far away, there is a story conjuring up on every corner. Huda in his paintings moves amidst light, shadow and darkness towards the hope of a faraway light. He believes where there is warmth there is a new tale to be told and there is an untrodden path for the onlooker.
Huda’s canvases focus on the weal and woe of human lives from the perspectives of natural light and natural darkness of the day-to-day life. Consequently, the fundamental nature of light and darkness as well as the vintage style are amalgamated to bring up relatable compositions.
Contemporary and talented artist Rashadul Huda was born in Rangpur district in 1964. He obtained his M.F.A from Institute of Fine Art, University of Dhaka.  He has participated in many group art exhibitions, residency programs and art workshops at home and abroad. In 2007 he had the third solo exhibition in Tokyo, Japan. The subjects of his painting are often abstract and semi abstract.
The exhibition will remain open to all until March 7at La Galerie, AFD and can be visited according to the following schedule: Monday to Thursday from 3:00pm to 9:00pm, Friday and Saturday (9:00 am to12:00 noon and 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm). Closed: Sunday
