Sussex County Cricket Club congratulated ace pacer Mustafizur Rahman on his return to the Test side after a prolonged injury lay-off.
The left arm fast bowler, popularly recognized as ‘Cutter Master’ coincidentally picked up the shoulder injury during his stint with Sussex last year. The injury eventually led him to undergo surgery.
It was the first time after his shoulder injury that he made his way into the Test squad. Earlier he made a brief return to the international cricket during Bangladesh’s series against New Zealand in December-January but his involvement was limited into the limited overs cricket.
Sussex however seemed to be overjoyed after Mustafizur finally was drafted into the Test format as he took their facebook page to wish him success on his return.
They wrote: “A nod to our Bangladeshi supporters with congratulations to former Sussex man Mustafizur Rahman on his recall to the Bangladesh cricket : The Tigers Test squad for the upcoming series with Sri Lanka.”
Mustafizur played just two matches for Sussex in the last season but the impact the paceman kept seemed to be eternal.
The Fizz as he is adorably called bagged four wickets for 23 runs for Sussex Sharks against Essex Eagles on July 22 last year, picking up a man-of-the-match award in his first match in the bargain. Mustafizur also was the first ever man in the world to pick up man of the match award in his maiden ODI and Test match.
Mustafizur however opted out to play the Test series in New Zealand and also missed the maiden Test in Indian soil after feeling uncomfortable in bowling in a long spell. He rather chose to play the ongoing Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) and after playing two rounds Mustafizur is confident in his recovery and so has been named in the Bangladesh Test squad for the tour of Sri Lanka next month.
