On the occasion of International Mother Language Day, a special song titled ‘Barnamala’ has been released to pay homage to the Language Movement martyrs. The song is sung by veteran singer Syed Abdul Hadi while a group of children singers from Sa Re Ga Ma Academy also participated with him. The tune and music arrangement of the song have been done by Sheikh Sadi Khan.
The song was released on the YouTube channel of CD Choice on February 20. Besides, it can be heard from GP Music.
Language Movement soldier Professor Chemon Ara commented on the song, “When I participated in the Language Movement in 1952, I was studying at intermediate level at Eden College. The joy I had felt in my youth at that time, coming to this old age, I have returned to that life again listening the song ‘Barnamala’”.
Syed Abdul Hadi said, “I have done the work with immense pleasure. Because through the song, the children-teenagers of the new generation will realise they have a responsibility to our language.”
Directed by Feroz Kabir Dollar, director of Sa Re Ga Ma Academy Mahfuz Billah is in the overall coordination of the song.
