Walton Central Zone took a comprehensive 383-run lead against Islami Bank East Zone on the close of the third day of the fourth round in the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium (KSOAS) in Fatullah yesterday.
At Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothisthan (BKSP) in Savar, South Zone enforced BCB North Zone follow on as the former still have a dearth of 105 with eight wickets remaining.
East Zone vs Central Zone
Resuming the third day at 114-6, Islami Bank East Zone were skittled out for paltry 211 what they made in response to Walton Central Zone’s first innings total of 328. Overnight batsman Yasir Ali shared a helpful 72 runs with Abul Hasan Raju for the seventh wicket. Raju missed his half century just for two. The pace all-rounder clobbered half-a-dozen fours and one six in his 57-ball 48 before caught behind the wickets. Then no one came up with ably support from the other ends and so Yasir remained at stumps on 48.
Mohammad Sharif was the pick who claimed four wickets for 59 and a run out. Shuvagata Hom and Mosharraf Hossain captured two wickets each for the Central Zone.
In second innings, Walton Central Zone put on 266 for five with Taibur Rahman scoring 55 and Nurul Hasan making 32. Marshall Ayub hit eight boundaries for topscoring with 73. Mehrab Hossain Junior (36), Abdul Mazid (36) and Shuvagata Hom (19) were the other contributors of the Central Zone.
South Zone vs North Zone
In the face of pace-spin combined attack, BCB North Zone were bowled out for 242 in their first innings following Prime Bank South Zone’s healthy first innings 502. Forhad Hossain and Dhiman Ghosh slammed fifties for the North Zone. Forhad clubbed three sixes and four fours in his 73-ball 56. And Dhiman cracked 67 off 74 with full dozen boundaries. Pacer Nahidul Islam grabbed five wickets, while Al Amin Hossain nabbed two and spinner Abdur Razzak bagged three for South Zone.
In second innings, the North Zone lost two wickets to put on 154 with Forhad Hossain making 62 and Naeem Islam scoring 24. Zunaid Siddique chipped in with 46.
