Four killed in road crashes

Four people were killed in separate road accidents in three districts yesterday, report agencies.
In Nilphamari, a woman and her 18 month-old-daughter were killed in a road accident at Kellabari Bazar on the Kishoreganj-Rangpur road under Kishoreganj upazila.
The victims were Rasheda Begum, 40, wife of Hasan Mamud and her daughter Asheka Akhter, residents of Uttar Durakoti village of the upazila.
Officer-in-Charge of Kishoreganj Police Station Bajlur Rashid said the accident occurred when a sand-laden trolley hit a rickshaw-van in the area at about 2.15 pm, leaving the van passengers Rasheda and her daughter dead on the spot.
In Magura, a college student was killed as a speeding truck hit his bicycle on Magura-Jhenaidah highway yesterday Morning.
The deceased was identified as Biswajit Biswas, 20, a student of 1st year (hons) of Magura Govt College and son of Bibek Biswas, a resident of Bengaberuil village in sadar upazila.
Officer-in-Charge of Magura police station Azmol Huda said the truck hit Biswajit's bicycle while he was going to college, leaving him critically injured. Later, he was rushed to Magura Sadar Hospital where doctors decleared him dead.
Police seized the truck and arrested its driver.A case was filed in this connection In Mymensingh, local people set a bus afire following the death of a pedestrian in a road accident on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Masterbari area of Bhaluka upazila on Monday night. A bus knocked down an unidentified man in the area around 10 pm, leaving him dead on the spot, said Mamun-or-Rashid, officer-in-charge of Bhaluka Model Police Station.
Angered by the incident, local people torched a bus plying on the road afire, disrupting traffic movement for sometime.
