11 get life in murder cases

Eleven people have been awarded to life imprisonment in two separate murder cases in Jessore and Sirajganj districts, reports UNB.
A Jessore court sentenced six outlawed party members to life term jail for killing a man in Monirampur upazila in 2003.
The convicts are Haider, Tushar, Hiramon, Sukriti, Pritish, and Proshanto of Purba Banglar Sarbahara Party. They hail from different villages of Keshabpur upazila in Jessore and Dumuria upazila of Khulna district.
According to the prosecution, the six called Khejer Ali Tarafdar out of his house at Kumarghata village in Monirampur upazila on the night of July 13, 2003 and chopped him to death.
Victim's son Masud Reza filed a case with Monirampur Police Station in this connection.
During the investigation, police arrested Haider, one of the six accused, who made confessional statement before a court over his involvement in the murder under the section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure and also mentioned the names of the other accused.
After examining witnesses and documents, Judge of Jessore Special Session Judge's court Nitai Chandra Saha handed down the verdict.
In Sirajganj, Judge of District and Session's Judge court M Jafrol Hasan sentenced a father among five people to life term jail for killing a minor girl in Raiganj upazila in 2011.
The court also fined the convicts Tk 20,000, in default to suffer one year more in jail.
The convicts are Habibur Rahman Hobi, father of slain girl Kakoli, Bisha Sheikh, Bilkis Begum, Aynal Sheikh and Monwara Begum of Saridah village in Raiganj upazila.
