56 countries confirm participation

The curtain of the 4th Roll Ball World Cup will be raised tomorrow (February 17) at the newly built Sheikh Russell Roll Ball court in the capital with the participation of 56 countries.
It is the first time Bangladesh is a host of a world cup event where the highest number of participants have entered their names in a World Cup competition.
A total of 600 participants including male and female from 56 countries along with the hosts are participating in the biennial World Cup tournament.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will distribute prizes among the winners as chief guest on February 23 while AHM Mostafa Kamal, Minister for Planning, will inaugurate the mega events of roll ball tomorrow at the newly built indoor court adjacent to Bangabandhu National Stadium.
Bangladesh, earned the third spot participating in the previous edition held in India while this time they want to do better result.
Bangladesh have been taking preparation for last one and a half moths for the competition.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh men’s have been drawn in the Pool D along with the Myanmar, Bhutan, Fiji and Hong Kong and women’s team have also drawn in the Pool D when Nepal and Philippines are the other competitors of the hosts in their group.  
The budget for the World Cup was fixed for Taka 22,57,00,000 while they managed the accommodation for the participants from abroad at the dormitories of different federations.     
Abul Kalam Azad, the chief coordinator of the Prime Minister’s office and also the president of the Bangladesh Roller Skating Federation, stated all in the press conference yesterday.
Azad also said that the newly built court cost Taka, 11,61,00,000, while the court will open for some other sports.
Azad said, “We are not expanding the money of the budget on this purpose but we also renovated the dormitories of other federations where the players from abroad will live.”
