Owari no Seraph: An Exceptional Anime

Time and time again anime revolving around vampires have been a major flop. So, naturally the question arises, why would people want to watch Owari No Seraph? And sure enough after watching the very first episode, the thought would become quite dominant if it had been any other year, but this year it has been different. Almost every anime that has been released this year has been a major hit and Owari No Seraph is no different.
The story is set in a fictional year 2012, the world comes to an end at the hands of a “human-made” virus, ravaging the global populace and leaving only children under thirteen years untouched. Then the vampires begin to resurface; taking control of human society and feeding on human blood. The vampires then subjugate the remnants’ of humanity and relocate the children underground under their protection for a small price, their blood. One such group of children led by Mikaela Hyakuya and Yuichro Hyakuya strive to see and get back their normal lives. Yuichiro makes a plan to escape with his orphan brothers and sisters but, get caught by one of the ruling vampires’. Mikaela and the others’ sacrifice their lives to get Yuichiro out of the Vampires’ society and out into the human society where he is found by the Moon Demon Company; a special unit that fights against vampires to save those who are under the so-called “protection” of the vampires. Now, initially the character Yuichiro will remind us of the stubbornness of Uzumaki Naruto but, soon enough, Yuichiro is molded to be a character worthy of being called a protagonist. The other characters though, somewhat average, pull through nicely because of the simple nature of their portrayal. With many major fights being skipped these days’ in short term anime, the director could have rushed to an ending but, the entire creative team held on and delivered a very good first season and sure enough anyone would want to see a second season.
