Kohli’s majestic form
Virat Kohli made it habit to convert a century to double century in the recent time. In his first 11 centuries, he crossed 150 runs for only one time but he converted the last five centuries to 150 plus, amongst which four is double century. Those four double centuries came in a four straight series, making him the first batsman in the history to achieve such feat. Kohli went past the all-time greatest Don Bardman and his compatriot great Rahul Dravid who earlier hit double century in three straight series. Like his century Kohli also reached the double century with a cover-drive four off Taijul Islam. He not only erased the name of Bradman and Dravid from the record book, but also removed another great Virendar Sehwag. When he was 144 on second day morning, ‘King Kohli’ went past Sehwag’s 1105 runs in 2004-2005 for the most Test runs in a home season. Kohli’s current run now stands 1168 in 15 matches. Sehwag played 17 matches to write the record earlier.
Two smashing efforts but still worrisome fielding
Bangladesh’s fielding was worrisome on day one. On second day, the fielders gave a superior effort on the field to amend to what they did in the last day but still fielding lapses continues. But all smashing effort couldn’t fetch a result, still it is appreciable. Firstly on the 10th over of the
second day when Ajinkya Rahane cut one into the air,
Sabbir Rahman dived superbly to hunt the ball down. He made it a catch, diving forward, but his only mistake was closing his hands before it came down. It was put down, nonetheless it was grand effort. Rahane was 60 then. He finally made 82 before being victimized by a great catch by Mehedi Hasan Miraj at short cover.
Mushfiqur’s woe behind wicket continues
Mushfiqur Rahim’s problem seemed eternal as his woe behind the wicket continued. In the morning session of the day what miss he did, was completely nasty and call was reinforced to withdraw him from the wicket-keeping job. He missed a stumping chance which should be done 100 times in even 100 times. Wriddhiman Saha was only four when he was reprieved. Taijul made Saha to make and this time Mushfiqur was just too far behind the stumps for his hands to reach them. He missed the stumping first, missed a second time too, and by the time he eventually broke the stumps, Saha is back
