Civil engineering int'l confce begins in RUET
RAJSHAHI: A three-day international conference-2017 on ‘Planning Architecture and Civil Engineering’ began in Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) on Thursday.
The Faculty of Civil Engineering of RUET organised the Conference with the main thrust of creating a unique opportunity for the academics, researchers,
professionals and students from home and abroad to present and share their
latest research findings and experiences which will promote intellectual and
practical development in the field of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Urban
Planning.
RUET Vice-chancellor Prof Rafiqul Alam Beg attended the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest with Dean of Civil Engineering Faculty Professor Abdus Sobhan in the chair.
Professor Nabuyuki Ogura from Japan's Ryukyus University, Professor Mehedi Ahmed Ansary and Professor Kazi Azizul Mawla from BUET's Department of Civil Engineering and Department of Architecture respectively, and RUET's Civil Engineering Head Prof Kamruzzaman Sarker also spoke.
More than 200 researchers, academics and engineers concerned from both home and abroad are taking part in the conference.
SMUCT holds 3-day progarmmes
Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology organised a three-day
progarmmes on the occasion of the birthday of its founder chairman.
The programmes began through the blood donation programme on its Uttara main campus in the capital on Wednesday with the joint collaboration of Red Crescent Society.
Students donated bloods for the welfare of other people. The three-day programmes, included art competition, dance, music and doa mahfil. Chairman of the foundation Enamul Kabir Shanto would attend the programme on Saturday.
JU science festival begins
A large number of science loving students from different institutions around the country gathered at Science Festival organised by Jahangirnagar University Science Club (JUSC) on Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus yesterday.
The science loving participants highlighted different types of science related projects on the basis of different natural advantages and scientific solution of different problems which peoples face everyday.
The mentionable projects were Geothermal Power Plant, Power Generator, Laser Security System, Light Microscope, Water Pump Machine, Hand Power Plant, Food Chain of Ecosystem, and Bio-Electric Plant and so on.  
Moreover, the science lovers also uphold different scientific theories and their applications with posters which were pasted on the wall of the auditorium.
JU Vice Chancellor Dr. Farzana Islam inaugurated this two-day festival by releasing balloons at Zahir Raihan Auditorium premises as chief guest about at 10.30 am.  Moreover, Professor of CSE department of BUET and also the pioneer in introducing Science Olympiad organised by Bangladesh Academy of Science Dr.
Mohammad Kaykobad attended as special guest while JUSC president Abu Sayeed was in the chair.
Director of JU Wazed Miah Science Research Institute Dr. Khabir Uddin, Prominent scientist and also the chief advisor of JUSC Prof AA Mamun, Chairman of JU Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering department Dr Shahedur Rahman, Prof Kabirul Bashar, Assistant Professor of Pharmacy department Faqrul Islam attended the programme among others.
Around 600 students from 5 public universities, 10 colleges and 15 schools from different parts of the country are taking part in this festival. The prize giving cermony of the science festival will be held today.
