Faridpur: At least 10 people, including a local journalist, were injured in a clash between two rival groups of Awami League in Sadarpur upazila on Thursday morning, reports UNB.
Witnesses said Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury MP and Sadarpur Upazila Parishad Chairman Kazi Shafiqur Rahman had a brawl during the upazila coordination meeting at the upazila parishad conference room around 10am.
Later, their supporters engaged in a clash when a chase and counter-chase took place, leaving at least 10 people, including local correspondent of the Dainik Amar Sangbad Tofazzal Hossain Titu, injured.
The injured journalist was first taken to Sadarpur Upazila Health Complex and later shifted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
Officer-in-charge of Sadarpur Police Station Harun-or-Rashid said they brought the situation under control.
Meanwhile, the local administration imposed Section-144 in Sadar union of the upazila to fend off further trouble, said Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rokhsana Rahman.
