‘War criminal’ held in Jamalpur  
Jamalpur: Police in a drive arrested a suspected war criminal from Dameshwar Dakkhin Shekhpara village in Sadar upazila on Wednesday, reports UNB.
The arrestee was identified as Rustom Ali, 80, a resident of the village.
Tipped off, a police team raided the house of Rustom and arrested him around 6pm on charge of his involvement in crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971, said Nasimul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.
13 Bangladeshis held in Benapole

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Wednesday arrested 13 Bangladeshi people, including two children, while they were returning home through Daulatpur border.
The seven men, four women and two children hail from different villages of Bagerhat and Narail districts.    
Tipped off that a group of Bangladeshi people were crossing border in a bid to enter Bangladesh without valid documents, a team of the border guards conducted a drive at Daulatpur border and arrested them in the morning, said Subedar Abdus Salam of Daulatpur BGB camp.
The arrestees, who entered India illegally three-four years back, used to work in various houses as domestic help in Mumbai city of India.
Later, they were handed over to Benapole Port Police Station, said sub-inspector of the police station Ashraf Hossain.
A case was filed.
Woman found dead in B’baria
Brahmanbaria: A housewife was found dead at her in-law’s house at Alipur village in Bijoynagar upazila on Wednesday night, reports UNB. Informed by locals, police recovered the hanging body of Nila Begum, 22, wife of Shawkat Mia from the house around 8 pm and sent it to local hospital morgue, said Arshad Ali, officer-in-charge of Bijoynagar Police Station. However, police could not arrest anyone as inmates of the house, including the victim’s husband, went into hiding after the incident.
Police suspect that Nila might have been killed by her husband.
