The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday arrested former secretary and former Rajuk chairman Iqbal Uddin Chowdhury and director of Partex Group Shawkat Aziz from the capital in a graft case, reports UNB. An ACC team, led by its director Syed Iqbal Hossain, arrested Iqbal Uddin from the city's Paribagh area and Shawkat Aziz from Gulshan area, said ACC spokesman Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya. On Wednesday, the national anti-graft agency filed a case with Motijheel Police Station against eight people, including Iqbal Uddin and Shawkat Aziz, for allegedly allocating two plots (10 katha each) of Rajuk violating rules. The other accused in the case are former Rajuk members SD Foyez, AKM Wahidul Islam, SM Zafar Ullah, HM Jahirul Haque and Md Rezaul Karim Tarafder, and Ashfaq Aziz Rubel of Partex Group. According to the case statement, the former Rajuk chairman and other accused in collusion with each other allocated two plots of Rajuk for Shawkat Aziz and Ashfaq Aziz during 2001-04, violating rules for their personal grain.
