Abahani Limited are yet to start their full fledged training session for the upcoming Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup football tournament, as most of their players are in the national camp in BKSP.
Despite all their players were to be get altogether in the camp, both the coach Amolesh Sen and the team manager Sttayajit Das Rupu optimistic to fight for the championship in the tournament.
The second edition of Sheikh Kamal Club Cup tournament will kick off from February 18 in Chittagong and almost all the foreign teams (five) are also confirmed.
Hosts Chittagong Abahani Limited are the organisers of the tournament, who won also won the inaugural title.
Bangladesh Premier League champions will go for their full fledged preparation from next week while apart from the premier performers, the foreign players are also yet to join the camp.
Manager and the coach informed this correspondent yesterday on the club premises that they had began the camp from January 18 with the available players (12) in the tent.
.“Right now we have 12 players in the training session, we started from January 18, the foreign players hopefully will join from next week.” said Amolesh Sen.
Long time server, as coach Amolesh also informed that they are going to Magura today to play a local tournament where all the players will also join the team today.
“We are going Magura to play a tournament with all our players and it would be an opportunity for us to watch all the players together and it would be a game practice before Sheikh Kamal tournament,” said Amolesh Sen.
Sattyajit Das Rupu, when informed about his foreign collection for the Sheikh Kamal tournament said, “I have all time contact with the players, who are expected to join the team next week.”
Rupu, replying to a query said, “I am expecting Sunday, Samad Yusuf and Jonathon very much positive to come and right now I don’t like to disclose one name, who also confirmed to play in the tournament.”
Rupu, about his target in the championship said, “Actually apart from the Korean team, I have idea about the others teams, like the teams from our regions”.
