Indian classical dance evening at DU Feb 4

Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC), High Commission of India, Dhaka, in collaboration with Jagannath Hall, Dhaka University, is organising ‘An Evening of Indian Classical Dance’ by young and talented Bangladeshi dancers on February 4  at 7 pm at Upasanalaya, Jagannath Hall, Dhaka University in the capital. The programme will begin with an inaugural dance by Sweety Das followed by Bharatnatyam Dance recital by Amit Chowdhury, Gaudiya Nritya by Rachel Priyanka Perris, Kathak dance by Dipa Sarkar, Manipuri dance duet by Babrul Alam Chowdhury and Anindita Roy, and Odissi dance duet by Afia Ibnet Halim and Md Jasimuddin.
Sweety Das has a post graduate degree from Rabindra Bharati University. Amit Choudhury, also a post graduate from Rabindra Bharati University in Bharatnatyam.Rachel Priyanka too is a Post graduate in Bharatnatyam from Rabindra Bharati University.  Dipa Sarkar is a Post graduate in Kathak from Rabindra Bharati University and is presently doing her PhD there. Babrul Alam Chowdhury and Anindita Roy are students of IGCC Manipuri Dance teacher Warda Rihab, an eminent dancer. Afia Ibnet Halim and Md Jasimuddin are Odissi dance students of eminent dancer-choreographer Sharmila Bandopadhyay.

The entry to the event is open to all.
