Two people were sentenced life term imprisonment for murder in two districts yesterday.Our Jessore correspondent reports: A local court here on Monday sentenced life term imprisonment to husband Rokonuzzaman for killing his wife Nazma Begum in 2009 in Jessore.The court also fined him Taka 20,000.Jessore Special District and session Judge Nitai Chandra Saha pronounced the verdict.
Convict Rokonuzzaman is son of Hafizur Rahman of Atulia village in Jhikorgacha upazila of the district ,court sources said.
The prosecution story, in brief, is that housewife Nazma Begum, daughter of Abdus Salam of Mukterpur village in Chaugacha upazila, was killed by her husband over trivial matter in 2009 at Atulia village of Jhikorgacha upazila.
On information, Police recovered the body from the spot and sent it to Jessore General Hospital for post-mortem.
After the incident, victim’s father Abdus Salam filed a case accusing three persons including Nazma’s husband Rokonuzzaman with Jhikorgacha Thana in this connection.
SI Maruf Rahman, investigation officer of the case, after investigation submitted charge- sheet to the court against Rokonuzzaman.
The Judge, after examining witnesses and evidence, found guilty Rokonuzzaman and handed down the punishment.
Our Mymensingh correspondent adds: A Mymensingh court yesterday sentenced life term imprisonment to a man for killing his father in 2013. The court also fined the convict Tk 10,000, in default to suffer one month more in jail, court soruces said.The convict was identified as Anwar Hossain, 44, of Phulpur upazila in Mymensingh district.
Sources said Iman Ali, 75, father of Anwar Hossain donated a land to a local mosque but Anwar was not agreed with his father. There was a conflict between them over the issue. Following the feud, Anwar stabbed his father with a knife when Iman Ali was on his way home from a local mosque around 7pm on January 4, 2013.Hearing the scream, local people rushed to the spot and took him to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.Police recovered the body and sent it to morgue for autopsy.
