Tasmiah Afrin’s short film to be screened today

Tasmiah Afrin Mou-directed short film ‘Kobi Swamir Mrityur Por Amar Jobanbondi’ has been selected for screening for the month of January, as the part of a yearlong film festival titled ‘New Films, New Filmmakers’. The film will be screened today at 7pm at the auditorium of National Art Plaza of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), Segun Bagicha in the capital. Produced by Rubaiyat Hossain, the film portrays the emotions of a recently widowed woman who’s having a feeling of deliverance after the death of her poet husband. The cast of the film includes Dilruba Hossain Doyel, Ali Ahsan, Maria, Raita and Irin Parvin.
The festival is being organised jointly by Moviyana Film Society and BSA for the second time.
The jury for the film festival selected six films in two categories, among the submitted films from January 1 to 10. Among the films, there are three short films and three feature films.
A short film ‘Ogochar’ directed by Nowrin Afrin and two feature films ‘Soul of a City’ by Faridul Ahsan Sourav and ‘Soul Singer’ by Gazi Mahtab Hasan and Tifini will be screened at the same venue of BSA at 4pm.
After the screening of the films, another segment titled ‘Cinema Five Alap’, which has been added in the second phase of the yearlong festival, will be held today at 5:30pm. On the subject ‘Shilper Swadhinata, Shilper Satarkata’, artist Sabyasachi Hazra will attend the event as main discussant.
Besides screening ‘Kobi Swamir Mrityur Por Amar Jobanbondi’, a short film ‘Artho Upakhyan’ directed by Atanu Patwary and one feature film ‘Gorai’ by Pratip Ghosh will also be screened at the same venue at 7pm.
