Boy killed for protest against eve teasing

Sydur Rahman Ridoy (14), a Class X student of the Barisal Government Abdur Rub Serniabat High School, was stabbed to death within the school compound yesterday (Saturday) morning. The police said Ridoy was killed by students of the Barisal Government Alekanda College.
Sources said Ridoy was attacked by a group of college students at 9:30am. He was severely beaten up and then stabbed with some sharp weapon in the back. He died on the spot.
His friend, Md Rafi, was also attacked by the miscreants and suffered severe injuries. He has been admitted to the Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.
Abdul Kuddus, investigating officer of Barisal Kotwali police station, said some students of the college had been teasing girl students of the school near the Paresh Sagar field. Recently, Ridoy and his friends protested against this. The eve-teasers  attacked and killed Ridoy to settle scores, he added.
Papiya Jesmin, headmistress of the school, said Ridoy, son of Jashim Gazi of Vandaria upazila in Pirojpur district, was a brilliant student. He stayed in a residential coaching centre at Jordon Road in the city.
The Barisal Metropolitan Police (BMP) commissioner, SM Ruhul Amin, said one Md Sayem has been arrested as one of the suspected killers from Kalushah Road in the city. The police are interrogating him to know name of other killers, he added.
 Ridoy's body has been sent to the morgue for autopsy.
