Wife ‘kills’ man in Laxmipur

A man was allegedly killed by his wife in Raipur upazila. Police recovered the body from a septic tank in Charpata area on Friday night, two days after he went missing.
The victim was identified as Abu Taher, 50, a resident of the area. M Shariful Islam, additional superintendent of police, said Taher went missing on Wednesday evening. Later, his brother Nurul Islam filed a general diary with Raipur Police Station.
Police detained Taher's wife Rabeya Khatun on Friday morning for interrogation.
At one stage, Rabeya confessed to killing her husband over family feud. Based on her information, a police team recovered Taher's body from the septic tank around 11pm.
2 ‘Huji men’ held in Chuadanga
Chuadanga: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two suspected members of Harkat-ul-Jihad Bangladesh (Huji) from Karpashdanga village in Damurhuda upazila yesterday morning, reports UNB
The arrestees were identified as Abdullah Al Mamun and Rakibul Islam.
Acting on a tip-off, a RAB team conducted a drive at the village in the morning and arrested Mamun and Rakibul along with zihadi books and explosives, said Major Manir Ahmmed, company commander of Jhenidah RAB-6.
Man killed over land dispute

A man was killed in an attack by rivals over a land dispute in Bhuapur upazila yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Nowser Ali, 55, of Nikla Gopal village in the upazila. ASP of Bhuapur Masudur Rahman said Nowser Ali had a longstanding dispute with neighbour Abdul Majid over a piece of land. The two locked in an altercation in this regard on Friday afternoon.
At one stage both of them attacked each other with sharp weapons, leaving Nowser injured. He was rushed to Bhuapur upazila health complex where doctors
declared him dead. A case was filed. Police arrested Abdul Majid, his wife Rahima, and son Abdur Rahim in this connection.
