Khamkheyali Shobha, an organisation for practicing Rabindra Sangeet, arranged a cultural programme followed by an award ceremony at the National Art Plaza of Bangladesh Shilakala Academy (BSA) on Saturday evening. In the programme, the organisation awarded Rezwana Choudhury Bannya and Sadi Mohammad with this year’s ‘Rabindra Guni Sammanona’. Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith attended the event as chief guest and handed over the awards to the recipients. Presided over by president of Khamkheyali Shobha Mahmud Hasim, director of Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre Jayashree Kundu was present as special guest at the event.
Rezwana Choudhury Bannya expressed her feelings by saying, “I would not say how much I am eligible for this honour. I just want to deliver my vote of thanks for giving me the award.”
Saadi Mohammad said, “Bannya is my long-term companion. I am glad that we received the award together.”
Besides, the cultural segment began with the dance performance by the artistes of Ntritya Nandan led by Sharmila Bandyopadhyay. Then, Zakir Hossain and Aniruddha Sen Gupta came up with their solo music rendition. They rendered the songs like ‘Bipul Toronge’, ‘Amay Thakte De Apon Mone’ and Choron Dhorte Dio Go Amare’. Shimul Mustafa recited Rabindranth Tagore’s poem ‘Banshi’. The event came to an end with the duet music rendition by Salma Akbar and Mokbul Hossain. l
