All-out support from the community is very important to free the society from all sorts of crimes including militancy, terrorism and drug-addiction, said Shafiqul Islam. "We are committed to make the society free from the crimes. But, police alone cannot do the job without community support," added Shafiqul Islam, Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP), reports BSS. He was addressing an open house day meeting at Shahmukhdum Police Station in the metropolis on Thursday as chief guest. Shahmukhdum Police Station organised the meeting with the main thrust of encouraging and motivating the people towards freeing the society from various crimes.
With RMP Deputy Police Commissioner (West) AKM Nahidul Islam in the chair, Deputy Commissioner (Headquarters) Tanveer Haider Chowdhury, Additional Deputy Commissioner Abdur Rashid, Senior Assistant Commissioners Shamima Nasrin and Ifte Khayer Alam, Paba Upazila Chairman Ashraful Alam and Officer-in-Charge of Shahmukhdum Zillur Rahman Hossain also spoke. RMP Commissioner Shafiqul Islam said the ongoing anti-drugs and anti-militancy drives will continue. Community people should extend their cooperation towards police with specific information about the criminals. The community people know well about location of the criminals, drug traffickers and traders and the police need the information from the citizens for taking legal action against them. He added that police-citizens joint patrolling and drives against the social crimes are the main objective of the community based policing and there is no alternative to activating it to free the society from the crimes.
