Sajid Bin Doza Bonny’s cartoon show at AFD

The sixth solo cartoon exhibition titled ‘Janala: Cultural Pattern of the Delta Land’ by Dr Sajid Bin Doza Bonny has begun at La Galerie, Alliance Française de Dhaka (AFD) in the capital’s Dhanmondi area. The opening ceremony of the exhibition was held on Monday. Architect Kazi Golam Nasir, president of Institute of Architects Bangladesh was present as chief guest, while eminent cartoonist Ahsan Habib  also attended the inaugural ceremony as the guest of honour. The concept of this exhibition— Janala, (Window) is about ‘observation’. Beginning as a little child’s beautiful dear window at the edge of the room, ‘observation’ has a profound intimacy with windows that is powerfully nurtured over the span of a person’s life. Through the windows, one may see the beauty of nature, smiles and sorrows of individuals, activities of the simple people of the delta land, culture, habits and many other things. With the change of time, one may see — through that window — one’s dreams or aspirations, and patterns of a longed life. In this exhibition, Bonny interprets these windows using the global and universal language of cartoon. The exhibition is open to all till January 24 at La Galerie and can be visited according to the following schedule: Monday to Thursday: 3pm to 9 pm, Friday and Saturday (9am to12pm and 5pm to 8pm).
Closed -Sunday.
