Sirajganj teacher show-caused
Sirajganj: A show cause notice has been issued against the acting principle of a college in Sadar upazila over alleged misappropriation of students’ stipend, reports UNB.
Akhter Hossain, an official of Sadar Upazila Secondary Education Office, the upazila education officer issued the letter on Monday asking Badrul Alam, acting principle of Kalia Kandapara School and College, to explain the misappropriation of the stipend.
The accused has been asked to answer the letter within seven days.
Upazila education officer Elija Sultana said the show cause letter was issued based on allegations that the teacher was involved in making fake list of students for the stipend.
Shops gutted in Tangail

At least 200 shops were gutted as a fire broke out at Karotia Bazar in Tangail Sadar upazila yesterday morning.
Sources said being informed five units of fire fighters rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze at about 10 am.
The reason of the fire could not be known immediately.
No actual financial losses were so far known although shop owners claimed that the loss may surpass Tk 2 crore.
15,000 hectares brought under wheat cultivation

A total of 15,000 hectares of land have been brought under wheat cultivation this season in the district with a production target of 45,000 tonnes of wheat.
The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) is expecting to achieve a bumper wheat production in the district during the current season because of favorable climate.
Of the lands, 7,000 hectares have been brought under Prodip variety, 4,000 hectares under Bijoy, 2,500 hectares under Sotabdi and 1,500 hectares under BARI-25 variety, The DAE sources said.
Deputy Director of DAE Md Ashraf Ali said wheat cultivation has increased this year than the last year due to less expensive of cultivation. Farmers Abdul Majid and Subash Chandra of village Sabuspara under Debiganj Upazila of the district said that at least 10 maunds of wheat can be harvested from one bigha of land this year.
Each maund of wheat is sold at minimum Taka 800. Farmer Abdul Majid said that last year I got Taka 8,000 by selling of wheat from one bigha of land.
The DAE has supplied all necessary seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and other agriculture inputs at a free of cost among the farmers to achieve the production target.
Besides, the department has also imparted training to the farmers to make them acquainted with the modern methods of wheat cultivation.
Farmers are happy because there is no pest attack and favourable weather for wheat cultivation.
